OCACPS Unveils Perpetual Cycle Masterpiece by Calvin Rore & Glenville Lord:
Perpetual Cycle of Life: The Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture, and Pacific Studies (OCACPS) is hosting a dance and musical piece that depicts an individual perspective of the human experience.
Producer and musician Calvin Rore and lead choreographer Glenville Lord will spearhead this unique production, pushing the boundaries of traditional dance performances by integrating it seamlessly with five stunning installations.
Each installation serves as a visual and sensory backdrop, enhancing the narrative and emotions conveyed through the dancers’ movements.Lord said the production took two months to prepare and drew inspiration from the perpetual cycle of life.
“It dives deep into the profound themes of life, death, birth, and rebirth, telling a story through movement and music that is as intricate as the journey we all traverse,” he said.
Lord has always been inspired by the Fijian lullabies and songs he heard while growing up, and this would be a huge part of the two-day event.
“For me, it was important to infuse some of these lullabies and songs into the show so people could relate to them, give them a sense of feeling about life, and be inspired.”
The two-day event will commence at 7pm today at the University of the South Pacific’s Oceania Centre Pavilion and tickets are available at the university library and the Oceania Centre for $30.
