Kadavu For ZamZam restaurant owner, Rashika Khatoon Dean, says despite being a school dropout, she would try her best to put all her children to school.
The single mother of three opened her new restaurant at Samabula on Wednesday.
She grew up in the outskirts of Labasa Town, in Kilikoso, Daku, Macuata.
Rashika reached Year 6 and stayed home for four years before she was married. She was only a teenager when she had her children.
The opportunity to become a business woman came after one of the saddest moment in her life – when her husband left. She was left alone with the children.
She capitalised on her passion for cooking and began her entrepreneur journey.
From the profits she gained over the years, she was able to travel overseas and send her two adult children to complete their tertiary education, graduate and even finance her son’s wedding.

What is one place in Fiji that remains on your bucket list?

Kadavu.
I have seen some beautiful pictures of the scenery of the Southern Island that would be worth a trip, who knows, it can open doors to the set up of another ZamZam restaurant.
